Many people in the USA and UK have cats and look after them in their spare time. They adopted pets as a hobby. Cats are one of the most famous pets in the people of the USA. Cats are a great source of pleasure and entertainment for them in their busy lifestyle. If you have a cat, then you should know about the cat’s food. Don't make them vegetarian because it can be dangerous or bad for their health. So, you should be picky regarding the cat's food.

Natural Feeding Behaviour of Cats

 If you look at cat family species, you will find only one animal "lion" that hunts and eat together. In the case of cats, hunt and feed almost 10 or more meals in a day as per their need. This is the natural behavior of cats feeding. You can facilitate yourself and your cats by this mimic "natural hunting behavior". By hiding small pieces of dry food in your home to seek out and eat.

Affect of Temperature

The body temperature of cats is around 38°C or 101°F. That's why cats always try to hunt food closed to 38°C or their body temperature. So, if you have cold canned food in the refrigerator, it should be hot or warmed by adding hot water or through the microwave.

Raw diet for cats

Life stage feeding

Cats require a different amount of nutrients such as fats, proteins, minerals, and vitamins depending upon their age.


Stage 1

Kittens (up to 12 months)

Cats are considered kittens in the first 12 months after birth. Kittens required all essential nutrients and proteins for their rapid growth. In this period bones and body, growth tends to be faster and require solid food almost after three months. But in the begging of kitten life soft and wet food has a positive impact due to easy digestion. At an early age, the kitten takes many small meals but after six months only two or three meals are enough.


Stage 2

Adult (1 to 7 years)

After 1 year of age, tour cay starts the second stage of his life "Adult". 1 to 7 years of age is an adult period. In this period cat needs to maintain their weight and good health. For this purpose cats need specific and balanced food with balanced nutrients to keep them healthy.


Stage 3

Senior or Geriatric Period (7+ years)

The last and third stage of a cat's life is after 7 years till 14 years of age. At this time cat food altered according to their health, weight, muscles, and organs. Senior cat food requires a high amount of nutrients for good health.


Simple guidelines for feeding a cat

There are following simple guidelines to feed a cat given below

  • Food, water, resting, sleeping areas should be far away from each other.
  • Every cat or pet should have a separate station.
  • Water and food should be indifferent bowels.
  • Use neat and clean dishes for food and water.
  • Daily monitoring of your cat food and health status.
  • Follow your Vet recommendations according to your cat.
